Oracle plans 50% increase in employees at new Austin tech campus

Oracle employee growth
Enterprise IT vendor Oracle today announced plans to expand its employee base by more than 50 percent at its proposed technology campus in Austin, Texas.

Oracle will also purchase flats to ensure affordable housing for its employees.

Oracle will expand its team in Austin by more than 50 percent over the next few years. The company will be hiring recent university graduates and technical professionals at early stages in their career. Job opportunities will largely be driven by growth in Oracle’s cloud sales organization, Oracle Direct.

Scott Armour, senior vice president of Oracle Direct, said: “We have an employee base in Austin. Our campus will be designed to inspire, support and attract top talent.”

Oracle plans to tie up with local firms to design and build the campus in a phased approach which will include consolidation of facilities from Oregon.

The company will construct the 560,000-square-foot complex and parking development on the waterfront of Austin’s Lady Bird Lake during the phase one. Oracle will purchase an adjacent 295-unit apartment building for housing its employees.
