Tencent Reveals Date for Dungeon and Fighter Mobile Game

Tencent has disclosed that its Dungeon and Fighter: Origin, a mobile gaming, will hit the markets on May 21.
Dungeon and Fighter OriginDeveloped in collaboration with Korean powerhouse Nexon, the action-packed title serves as a mobile adaptation of the immensely popular  Dungeon and Fighter computer game, celebrated as one of the globe’s most lucrative gaming franchises.

Dungeon Fighter Online is one of the most-played and highest-grossing video games, with over 850 million players worldwide and over $22 billion in lifetime revenue as of June 2023.

The game’s debut in South Korea in 2022 was met with resounding success. However, its entry into the Chinese market faced significant delays due to regulatory constraints imposed on the gaming sector between 2018 and 2022.

According to a February report by investment bank Jefferies, “Dungeon and Fighter: Origin” is poised to dominate China’s revenue rankings, potentially raking in annual revenues ranging from $600 million to $1.1 billion. The bank foresees a cautious approach towards user engagement and monetization during the initial launch phase, Reuters news report said.

Tencent recently conducted a closed testing phase involving 300,000 participants, yielding promising results. In a subsequent report this month, HSBC commented on the strong performance metrics observed during the testing phase, including daily active users, retention rates, and user spending tendencies.
