Several tech startups — Volantis, Landbase among others, have announced their venture capital VC funding to bolster innovation and business growth.

Volantis Raises $9 mn
Volantis, a semiconductor startup based in San Mateo, unveiled a photonic compute platform designed for AI workloads and raised $9 million in a seed funding round backed by Alex Wang, Trevor Blackwell, and others. Founded in 2022 by Tapa Ghosh with co-founder and CTO Roy Meade, the company’s strategy focuses on integrating directly modulated lasers and on-chip optical waveguides to replace traditional chip interconnects and achieve ultra-efficient, high-bandwidth photonic communication within chip-scale packages. The investment will fund continued chip architecture development, expansion of the engineering team, and early customer engagements. Technology leverages a new class of photonic compute architecture that delivers approximately 15× better performance per dollar while reducing energy usage and cost compared to silicon photonics. The customer focus includes AI infrastructure providers and data center operators seeking scalable, energy-efficient computer solutions. Innovation centers on achieving in-computer photonics at scale using low-cost VCSEL laser technology. Benefits include improved computing speed, energy savings, cost efficiency, and system scalability.
Landbase Secures $30 mn
