VC funding: Fungible, Wondery, Clause, MeWe

Fungible, Wondery, TripActions, Clause, MeWe, C2RO, Aera Technology, Commonwealth Fusion Systems, WeGift, 3Box, METRON, among others, announced their latest VC funding rounds.

Fungible has closed $200 million in Series C financing — led by the SoftBank Vision Fund with participation from Norwest Venture Partners and existing investors. Fungible has raised over $300 million in capital from venture capitalists and strategic investors including Battery Ventures, Mayfield Fund, Redline Capital and Walden Riverwood Ventures — to date.

Wondery

Wondery, a podcast publisher in the world, has raised a $10 million Series B financing round led by new investor Waverley Capital with the participation of series A investors Lerer Hippeau, Greycroft, BDMI, Advancit and Water Tower Ventures, as well as Powerhouse Ventures.

TripActions

TripActions, a business travel platform, has raised $250 million in Series D funding led by Andreessen Horowitz with participation from Zeev Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Group 11 (fka SGVC).

Clause

Clause, a provider of smart contracting technology, has raised $5.5 million in Series A round — led by Galaxy Digital, with investment from DocuSign and participation from existing investors BN Capital at Lerer Hippeau, and London-based Seedcamp.

Raptor Group, Galaxy Digital’s EOS VC Fund backed by Block.one, Nat Turner and Zach Weinberg (co-founders of Flatiron Health), Tom Gonser (founder of DocuSign), and Jonathan Summers (co-founder of Everett Capital Advisors) are the new investors.

MeWe

MeWe has closed a $4.5 million funding from high-net-worth investors, including Mark Britto, chairman and founder of Boku. MeWe is on track to have 30 million members by year-end, and projects 150 million by the end of 2020.

C2RO

Montreal-based AI company C2RO has secured CAD$2.25 million funding led by Fonds Innovexport, with participation from GCI Capital, Harbor Street Ventures, Tandemlaunch, Ministere de leconomie et de linnovation, and several angel investors in Canada, the U.S. and Europe.

Aera Technology

Aera Technology announced $80 million Series C financing round led by DFJ Growth with the participation from the company’s executive leadership, NewView Capital and Georgian Partners. Aera Technology has raised $170 million to date.

Commonwealth Fusion Systems

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS), a start-up commercializing fusion energy, has raised $115 million and closed its Series A round. New participants in the round include Future Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Lowercase Capital, Moore Strategic Ventures, Safar Partners, Schooner Capital, and Starlight Ventures who join Eni, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, The Engine and other investors.

WeGift

WeGift, a digital rewards platform, has raised £4 million in Series A funding, led by Fred Destin at Stride.vc and other investors including SAP.iO fund and Unilever Ventures. WeGift also announced new angel investors including James Hind, founder of Carwow and Eamon Jubbawy at Onfido.

3Box

3Box, makers of decentralized identity and data storage infrastructure, have raised a $2.5 million seed financing round led by Placeholder Ventures with the participation of Venrock, Northzone and CoinFund.

METRON

METRON, an energy intelligence company, announced €10 million fundraising with NTT DOCOMO Ventures (Tokyo), StatKraft Ventures (Dusseldorf) and its current investors BNP Paribas (Paris) and Breed Reply (London).
