Pillar Security, an AI security startup focused on protecting AI-driven software systems, has secured $9 million in seed funding.

The round was led by Shield Capital, with participation from Golden Ventures, Ground Up Ventures, and strategic angel investors. The funds will be used to expand research and development as well as accelerate go-to-market initiatives.
As AI adoption grows across enterprises, traditional cybersecurity tools have struggled to keep pace, leaving significant protection gaps. A Deloitte survey revealed that 77% of cybersecurity leaders are concerned about AI-specific threats like evasion attacks, data poisoning, privacy issues, and intellectual property leakage. Pillar Security directly addresses these challenges with a purpose-built, end-to-end platform tailored for the AI software lifecycle.
Co-founded in October 2023 by Dor Sarig and Ziv Karliner, Pillar provides an integrated security solution that works with existing infrastructure, offering real-time visibility and control over AI models, datasets, prompts, and more. The platform automatically maps AI assets, runs comprehensive tests, and deploys adaptive guardrails aligned with each application’s unique risk profile.
“AI fundamentally changes how we build software,” said CEO Dor Sarig. “Pillar was built to secure this new generation of autonomous, agentic systems. Our platform empowers organizations to innovate safely while bringing AI and security teams together through a common toolset.”
The company is already working with leading AI innovators including Similarweb, Eleos Health, and AvidXchange. Its platform is enhanced by industry-leading AI threat intelligence, analyzing over 50 million interactions to proactively detect and mitigate real-world attacks. Pillar’s research has uncovered vulnerabilities such as the “Rules File Backdoor” in GitHub Copilot and released a pioneering report on live LLM attacks.
Investors praised Pillar’s vision and technical depth. Elias Manousos of Shield Capital noted Pillar’s potential to define new standards for AI security, while Golden Ventures partner Nick Chen called the company foundational for scaling enterprise AI safely.
Based in Miami and Tel Aviv, Pillar is positioned to become a key player in securing the next generation of intelligent software systems.
