LightFury Games Raises $8.5 mn in VC Funding Round

On Wednesday, gaming startup LightFury Games announced a significant milestone, securing $8.5 million in its inaugural fundraising round, spearheaded by Blume Ventures alongside other prominent investors.

LightFury Games outlined its intentions to allocate the funds towards the development of AAA titles and the acquisition of top-tier talent for its studios located in India and the UK.

AAA games, renowned for their exceptional polish and quality, are typically crafted by leading gaming studios equipped with substantial financial and technical resources.

Karan Shroff, CEO and Co-Founder of LightFury Games, emphasized the burgeoning size of the gaming market in India, declaring it an opportune moment for the company to leverage its expertise within the industry.

Among the notable investors participating in the funding round were MIXI, Gemba Capital, and Angels, with notable individuals such as Kunal Shah and Gaurav Munjal also contributing.

LightFury Games was established by Shroff, gaming industry veteran Anurag Banerjee, and Tina Balachandran, a former executive of Unacademy and Tencent Games.

Karthik Reddy, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Blume Ventures, expressed enthusiasm about the investment, highlighting the company’s ability to assemble talent and garner support from gaming and consumer spheres, making it one of the most compelling ventures in their portfolio within the gaming sector.
