Aiming North American markets, Intel today unveiled Falcon 8+ commercial drone at the 2016 INTERGEO drone conference in Hamburg, Germany. It is the first Intel-branded commercial drone.
This system includes the Intel’s Falcon 8+ unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), Cockpit for ground control, as well as the Powerpack to power the UAV.
It is also powered with the triple-redundant AscTec Trinity autopilot. The system provides detailed images down to millimeter accuracy and gives structural analysis that helps users detect and prevent further damage to infrastructure.
The chipmaker, which believe that drones are an important computing platform for the future, has been focusing on the drone space and announced the first consumer drone, the Yuneec Typhoon H.
It is powered by Intel RealSense technology for obstacle navigation, and the Intel Aero Platform, a platform for developers to build their own drones from the ground up.
