Wipro is expanding its presence in the Germany IT market as per its three-pronged strategy.
IT major is planning to triple its employee strength in Germany over the next three years, by hiring over 1,000 professionals.
At present, Wipro serves more than 30 customers in Germany, supported by over 500 employees.
According to industry estimates, Germany’s IT market size in 2012 was approximately $80 billion.
In Germany, Wipro has IT development centers in Munich, Meerbusch, Nuremberg and sales offices in Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne and Meerbusch.
Wipro’s customers in Germany include a global automotive company, an European utilities major and one of the largest telecom companies in the country, among others.
“We continue to strengthen our new business hunting approach to build a strong and structured pipe-line of business opportunities for the next 3 – 5 years,” said Rajat Mathur, chief sales and operations officer – Growth Markets, Wipro.
The company is expanding its resource base anticipating significance increase in IT deals from the retail, automotive, telecom, healthcare, banking and energy and utilities sectors in Germany.
To drive stronger incremental growth in the future, the Bangalore-based Wipro is looking to address the requirements of medium-sized enterprises in the region, in addition to its existing focus on large global enterprises.
“We are making investments in building strong domain knowledge in key growth verticals and are hiring local talent with strong delivery and program management capabilities,” Mathur added.
Wipro added 2,907 IT and BPO jobs in the fourth quarter of FY 2013. Wipro, announcing the quarterly financial result on Friday, said that its headcount in Q4 FY 2013 stood at 145,812 against 142,905 in Q3 FY 2013. Attrition in BPO business reduced to 13.3 percent in the fourth quarter from 14.2 percent in the third quarter.
