Wipro COO Amit Choudhary resigned

Wipro, a leading IT services company based in India, has announced the resignation of Amit Choudhary, its chief operating officer.
Wipro HyderabadAmit Choudhary is leaving the company to pursue opportunities outside the organization, and May 31 will be his last day at the firm. Wipro did not reveal more details.

Sanjeev Jain, the global head of business operations of Wipro, will be the new COO with immediate effect.

This is the second-level senior exit at the IT services company in less than a week.

Amit Choudhary’s exit comes after Wipro’s Asia Pacific, India, Middle East and Africa (APMEA) President Anis Chenchah stepped down last week.

Both Anis Chenchah and Amit Choudhary were picked by former CEO Thierry Delaporte, who left Wipro after working for the IT services company for four years, as they worked together at France based tech company Capgemini, Reuters news report said.

Amit Choudhary was the COO for Capgemini’s financial services unit, while Anis Chenchah the was the head of its business service unit.

The exits could pose as a setback as CEO Srinivas Pallia said the company aims to win deals through artificial intelligence-infused consulting, and that it would prioritise growth in the fourth quarter post-earnings conference.

In fiscal year 2024, Wipro’s IT services revenue fell 3.8 percent to $10.8 billion, marking the first fall since 2021. Wipro is targeting IT services revenue of $2.617 billion – $2.670 billion during the current quarter of the fiscal year.

Sanjeev Jain, who joined Wipro in April 2023, currently leads its global business operations, service delivery, information security, and enterprise risk management, and works closely with all business units. Prior to joining Wipro, Sanjeev held leadership roles at Kyndryl Holdings (IBM spin-off), IBM, Cognizant, and GE.

Over the past year, Sanjeev Jain has been leading Wipro’s talent supply chain, including Wipro’s gig work platform, TopGear, as well as talent skilling, global mobility, talent acquisition, and business resilience functions. He has played a key leadership role in the development and deployment of Wipro’s AI training and upskilling strategy.

Sanjeev Jain, as Chief Operating Officer, will be responsible for continuing Wipro’s journey of building a client-centric delivery organization focused on driving sustainable, profitable, and delivery-led growth.

He will oversee Global Business Operations, the Chief Information Office, the Chief Information Security Office, and the Enterprise Risk Management function and continue to work closely with Wipro’s leadership teams across the organization on transformation initiatives.
