Wind River assists Siemens to cut engineering costs by 50 percent

Wind River today said its enterprise client Siemens cut its engineering costs by 50 percent, and improve productivity of engineering team by using VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS).

Siemens Digital Factory Division selected has VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS) as the foundation for its industrial PCs to execute tasks requiring determinism, fast response times, and safety.

“Using VxWorks versus building and maintaining our own operating system enabled us to accelerate our time-to-market by four months, cut our engineering costs by 50 percent, and improve the overall productivity of our engineering team,” said Anton Sauter, product manager SIMATIC IPC at Siemens.
