VeriFone Systems helps GNC Holding upgrade payment network

VeriFone Systems, a provider of electronic payment solutions, has been selected by GNC Holdings, a specialty retailer of health, wellness and sports nutrition products, to upgrade their payment network.

Under this partnership, GNC will deploy VeriFone’s newest NFC-enabled multimedia payment device, at more than 3100 of its U.S. retail locations. The payment device will position GNC for potential future endeavors such as EMV payments and point of sale customer marketing.

GNC is familiar with the complexities brought on by the global migration towards EMV. It selected the VeriFone payment device as part of its solution roadmap to accept new forms of payment.

“As we looked at the future of our business, and how we wanted to leverage our payment infrastructure, it became clear the new payment device provided the functionality we were looking for,” said Bruce Jones, GNC’s IT director.

“Selecting VeriFone provides us a partner with the payment system expertise we were looking for,” Jones added.

Recently VeriFone announced it has been selected by Jones Group for mobile payment acceptance and better user experience.

As part of the IT deal, VeriFone will upgrade the brands’ payment environments with its PAYware Mobile e210 mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) solution and the MX 915, an NFC-enabled, multi-media payment terminal, VeriFone said.
