Software AG saves time and money for Alabama Public Health dept

Infotech Lead America: The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) has Software AG to help them meet Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements by modernizing their legacy eligibility determination systems.

The Alabama Department of Public Health is the primary state health agency for the state of Alabama. Increasing healthcare reforms are necessitating dramatic programmatic and system transformation for states.

The application of Software AG’s ARIS technology and its web Methods Business Process Management Suite (BPMS), along with SOA Governance capabilities will enable the ADPH to meet near term ACA deadlines by January 2014. It will streamline the eligibility and enrollment process while creating a system that automates application processing.

The solution will enable faster, more accurate eligibility determinations for the state’s citizens and save millions of dollars.

The state looks to be a model for Medicaid Information Technology Architecture (MITA) maturity guidelines provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. So the ability to quickly take new ACA business processes from a strategy and design point of view in ARIS Business Architect and transform them into models for process automation in webMethods was a key factor.

“The Software AG team was very accessible to us throughout the selection process and were able to show exactly how their ARIS and webMethods solutions would help us map the key Medicaid eligibility processes and integrate all of our systems more effectively,” said Regina Patterson, director of business operations for the Alabama Department of Public Health.

Earlier this month Software AG acquired the Cloud Platform vendor LongJump, based in Santa Clara, CA, to extend its customer offerings to address departmental and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) projects through end-user, self-service application development.

Software AG reported license revenue growth of 19 percent in its largest business line, Business Process Excellence (BPE), in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
