SAP strengthens focus on SMBs, hires new head

Business software major SAP is enhancing its focus on the global SMB market.

The German technology company has appointed Barry Padgett as SAP’s new president of the SAP Business One, SAP Anywhere, and SAP Business ByDesign teams.

SAP said this newly created position highlights the importance of small and midsize businesses to SAP. SAP aims to become the market-leading provider of commerce, financial and ERP services to SMBs.

Before joining SAP, Barry Padgett worked with Concur Technologies as its chief product officer since 2014.

SAP has combined the teams for the SAP Business One application, the SAP Anywhere solution and the SAP Business ByDesign solution into one organization to effectively focus on building front-office and back-office solutions for SMBs.

EJ Jackson, head of SAP Anywhere, Luis Murguia, head of SAP Business One, Michael Schmitt, head of SAP Business ByDesign, and Rob Chu, global head of SMB development and support, will report to Barry Padgett.
