SAP Labs India, a crucial research and development hub for global tech giant SAP, has announced its ambitious plan to double its artificial intelligence (AI) talent base in the country by 2024. This move aims to bolster its portfolio with advanced AI capabilities that align with the evolving demands of the business landscape.
As the largest R&D center for SAP worldwide, headquartered in Bengaluru, India, the facility has become a pivotal location for SAP’s AI transformation efforts, particularly in the realm of Business AI. This transformation is intended to empower half a million customers around the world with AI-powered solutions.
Sindhu Gangadharan, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of SAP Labs India and Head of SAP User Enablement, expressed confidence in the potential of Business AI. She stated, “As one of the largest locations powering the SAP AI unit, SAP Labs India is bullish on Business AI and will double the AI talent base in India by next year.”
This announcement comes on the heels of Sapphire Ventures, a technology-focused VC backed by SAP, revealing its commitment of $1 billion to support AI-powered enterprise technology start-ups. Furthermore, SAP has strategically invested in three prominent generative AI companies — Aleph Alpha, Anthropic, and Cohere.
SAP is gearing up to unveil new solutions and capabilities leveraging the vast potential of AI later this year. Sindhu Gangadharan highlighted the transformative impact of generative AI on businesses, emphasizing that SAP delivers AI integrated into their applications, enhancing critical business processes from the outset.
Sindhu Gangadharan was recently appointed as the Vice Chairperson of the National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom), further underlining her influential role in the tech industry.
SAP’s AI is intricately woven into systems powering customers’ vital business processes, collaborating with users to unlock exceptional insights and efficiencies, thereby enhancing their knowledge and value within the business landscape. This significant expansion of AI talent in India signifies SAP’s dedication to leading the AI revolution in enterprise technology.
