SAP buys customer loyalty platform Emarsys

Business software major SAP has agreed to acquire Emarsys, a provider of omnichannel customer loyalty platforms in the cloud.

The acquisition of Emarsys will enable SAP’s customers to have highly personalized contact with end customers in real time – across all communication channels, e.g. email, mobile devices, social networks, SMS and the Internet.

Emarsys has over 1,500 customers worldwide and more than 800 employees in 13 offices, including London, Berlin, Sydney and Budapest, as well as at the US headquarters in Indianapolis.

“Including Emarsys in our customer experience portfolio and combining it with SAP S / 4HANA and the experience management technology from SAP and Qualtrics is a big step forward for this market,” said Christian Klein, CEO of SAP.

Hagai Hartman, founder and chief innovation officer of Emarsys, said: “Emarsys and SAP can create a new blueprint for digital commerce that puts the consumer first.”

Emarsys was founded in Vienna by the chairmen of the supervisory board, Josef Ahorner, Hagai Hartman and Daniel Harari.
