Salesforce appoints Robin Washington as President and COFO

Salesforce, the world’s #1 AI CRM, has announced the appointment of Robin Washington as President and Chief Operating and Financial Officer (COFO) effective March 21, 2025.

Robin Washington will spearhead the company’s next phase of transformation, emphasizing profitable growth, operational excellence, and financial strategy. Additionally, she will play a pivotal role in advancing Salesforce’s vision of an Agentforce-driven future, leveraging AI to redefine workforce solutions.

Robin Washington has established herself as a leader in financial and operational strategy at some of the most prominent global corporations, including Gilead Sciences, Hyperion, and PeopleSoft. Having served on Salesforce’s Board since 2013, she has been instrumental in shaping the company’s financial and strategic direction.

She previously held the position of Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee and has served as Lead Independent Director since 2022. Washington also holds board positions at Alphabet, Eikon Therapeutics, Honeywell International, and Vertiv Holdings, further underscoring her extensive experience in corporate governance and strategy.

The transition comes as Brian Millham, a key leader in Salesforce’s growth, prepares to retire on May 1, 2025. Brian Millham has been a foundational part of Salesforce for 25 years, playing an essential role in the company’s legendary sales organization, world-class Customer Success operations, and broader financial and operational transformation. His contributions have shaped Salesforce’s core business strategies and will continue to influence the company’s future. He will transition into an advisory role upon his retirement.

Marc Benioff, Chair and CEO of Salesforce, expressed his enthusiasm for Robin Washington’s appointment, emphasizing her deep strategic insights and financial expertise. He noted that Robin Washington has played a crucial role in shaping Salesforce’s trajectory over the past decade and is the ideal leader to guide the company through the transformational shift brought about by AI and the rise of Agentforce.

Robin Washington will continue to serve on the Salesforce Board of Directors, maintaining her influence over the company’s strategic direction. The appointment also comes as Amy Weaver, the current CFO, prepares for her transition out of Salesforce, having previously announced her planned departure upon the appointment of a new CFO.

Robin Washington’s career highlights her extensive expertise in financial leadership and corporate strategy. Before joining Salesforce, she served as Executive Vice President and CFO at Gilead Sciences from 2008 to 2019, CFO of Hyperion Solutions from 2006 to 2007, and Chief Accounting Officer at PeopleSoft. Her governance experience extends beyond Salesforce, as she continues to serve on the boards of Alphabet, Eikon Therapeutics, Honeywell International, and Vertiv Holdings.

Robin Washington holds a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.
