Ross Wainwright to lead SAP’s financial services segments

SAP has appointed Ross Wainwright as its global head of financial services industries, covering banking, insurance and capital markets.

Wainwright’s team will focus on helping customers transform their legacy applications and architecture to meet industry challenges and accelerate their modernization, standardization and innovation programs.

Wainwright will report directly to Simon Paris, who previously held the position and has transitioned into a newly established role as global head of strategic industries, covering financial services industries, retail and public services, SAP said.

Previously, Wainwright served as global head of financial services managing the professional services business. Prior to this, Wainwright served as chief operating officer, SAP North America.

SAP’s in-memory computing technology, SAP HANA, helps clients process massive amounts of customer and transactional banking data faster than ever before – for improved planning, risk and compliance management, reporting, and more.

Gartner recently highlighted SAP’s Transactional Banking (v.8.0) in its Magic Quadrant for International Retail Core Banking. SAP has more than 61 banking clients across 30 countries in Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia/Pacific.

According to Gartner, SAP derives its market understanding through diverse channels, including direct customer and partner interactions, institutionalized customer groups — such as the Banking Industry Architecture Network (BIAN) — user groups, and participation in industry groups and standards bodies.
