Microsoft Appoints AWS Veteran Puneet Chandok to Lead India Operations

Microsoft, the technology giant, announced the appointment of Puneet Chandok as the new Corporate Vice President for Microsoft India and South Asia. Effective from 1st September 2023, Puneet will take over the operational responsibilities as India head from Anant Maheshwari.
Puneet Chandok Microsoft IndiaIn his new role, Puneet Chandok will be leading the integration of Microsoft’s businesses across South Asia, encompassing countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. He aims to further strengthen the company’s presence in the region while focusing on key industries through a customer-centric approach with generative AI at its core.

Puneet Chandok’s appointment comes at a time of continued market expansion for Microsoft as a leader in cloud technology and digital innovation. Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft boasts the largest partner ecosystem globally, with a 17,000 strong network in India generating substantial cloud revenue.

Moreover, the company has made new investments in local infrastructure, including plans to establish a new data center in Hyderabad, aligning its growth with India’s emergence as a global innovation hub. Microsoft remains steadfast in its commitment to serving the market with transformative digital technology to drive India’s economic progress and inclusive growth agenda.

Puneet Chandok brings valuable experience to his new role, having previously led the India and South Asia business for Amazon Web Services (AWS). He has worked closely with enterprises, startups, and SMBs, helping them innovate, reduce technical debt, and enhance agility. Before that, Puneet Chandok held significant roles at McKinsey and IBM. He holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and has diplomas in Computer Programming, Networking, and High-level Computer Systems.
