Mastercard announced the opening of its Tech Hub in Pune, India, a move that underscores the company’s growing commitment to the region and its global technology operations.

Located at Bluegrass Business Park in Yerwada, the campus spans nearly half a million square meters and is poised to play a crucial role in driving Mastercard’s global technological advancements.
The facility will house over 6,000 technologists, engineers, and experts from diverse fields, making it Mastercard’s largest workforce in a single city globally. This new hub joins the company’s global Tech Hub network, which includes locations such as Arlington, Dublin, New York, St. Louis, Sydney, and Vancouver.
Mastercard has had a presence in India for over 40 years, and this new hub builds on its legacy in the country, where it first established a Tech Hub in 2014. The Pune hub has since become central to Mastercard’s operations, supporting key functions in payment safety, cybersecurity, fraud detection, and digital identity.
Ed McLaughlin, President & Chief Technology Officer at Mastercard, said, “We are thrilled to open the doors to our new Tech Hub in Pune which will play a pivotal part in Mastercard’s global technology strategy.”
Mastercard’s Pune workforce has been instrumental in delivering technological solutions for India’s domestic market, including key initiatives like the financial inclusion platform Community Pass and the global pilot of the Payment Passkey Service.
Gautam Aggarwal, Division President for South Asia at Mastercard, emphasized that India remains a strategic location for the company, noting that the new Pune hub reflects Mastercard’s long-term commitment to India’s growth and digitization goals.
