India-based IT services provider Wipro has initiated legal action against its former Chief Finance Officer (CFO), Jatin Dalal.
Jatin Dalal, now serving as CFO at Cognizant, responded by filing an application seeking arbitration, intensifying the legal tussle.
The specifics behind Wipro’s lawsuit against Dalal remain undisclosed, adding intrigue to the unfolding legal battle. Both parties presented their arguments before the Bengaluru Civil Court, prompting an adjournment of the proceedings until January 3.
It’s anticipated that Dalal will relocate to either the US or UK once visa formalities are finalized. The case’s initial hearing took place on November 28, followed by Dalal’s submission of an application under Section 8 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996 during the first week of December.
This act empowers the court to direct disputing parties toward arbitration under its judicial authority. Dalal, who dedicated two decades to Wipro, currently holds a position reporting to Cognizant’s CEO Ravi Kumar. His tenure at Wipro saw an elevation to the CFO role in 2015, subsequently assuming the presidency in 2019.
Wipro recently made headlines for filing a complaint against its former senior vice president, Mohd Haque. The complaint alleged a breach of non-compete agreements as Haque joined Cognizant, a direct competitor of Wipro. This incident adds to the backdrop of legal confrontations involving key personnel between the two prominent corporations.
