IBM has announced its agreement with Software AG for the acquisition of StreamSets and webMethods, the technology platforms of Software AG’s Super iPaaS. The deal stands at a substantial €2.13 billion in cash.
StreamSets and webMethods stand as pivotal leaders in application integration, API management, and data integration. According to IDC projections, the global integration software market is anticipated to surpass $18.0 billion by 2027, reflecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.1 percent.
Te move by IBM signals a commitment to furthering AI and hybrid cloud technologies. StreamSets is anticipated to enhance data ingestion capabilities within IBM’s AI and data platform, Watsonx, while webMethods is poised to furnish clients and partners with advanced integration and API management tools tailored for hybrid multi-cloud environments.
StreamSets, renowned for its cloud-native DataOps and data ingestion platform, facilitates seamless access and delivery of data across diverse sources and data types. Moreover, it empowers the creation of intelligent data pipelines catering to both real-time and batch data ingestion.
Meanwhile, webMethods, an integration and API management platform available on-premises and in the cloud, offers an array of services such as B2B integration, managed file transfer, and a modern API gateway for the effective management, monitoring, and monetization of APIs.
Software AG’s Super iPaaS platform, boasting profitability and a substantial recurring revenue profile, currently serves over 1,500 clients worldwide through StreamSets and webMethods.
Anticipated to be finalized in the second quarter of 2024, the acquisition builds upon the relationship between IBM and Software AG, showcasing a commitment to enhancing IBM’s existing portfolio while leveraging global scale and presence across more than 175 countries.
