HP unveils new solutions to support BYOD initiatives

Infotech Lead India: HP offers new unified wired and wireless solutions that support growing BYOD initiatives with simple, scalable and secure network supporting.

HP introduced new solutions and services at the HP Global Partner Conference. HP’s solutions were designed to provide incremental revenue opportunities for partners while supporting BYOD initiatives.

It is estimated that by 2016, two-thirds of the workforce will own smartphones and 40 percent of the workforce will be mobile. Legacy infrastructures used today require two separate networks and management applications for wired and wireless connectivity,  that increase operational complexity. These legacy infrastructures are not scalable, so supporting support multiple devices per user becomes a challenge.

Gartner recommends that every business needs a clearly articulated position on BYOD. Formal BYOD programs are a gaining impetus due to the booming mobile device market.

IDC predicts that IT will have to implement a holistic approach to addressing BYOD needs. In 2012 more than two-thirds of devices accessing enterprise mobile applications were owned by employees.

New HP BYOD solutions will simplify operations and reduce costs by up to 38 percent by eliminating the need for up to 50 percent of traditional network access devices. These include separate switches and controllers. The HP 830 Unified/WLAN Switch while supports up to 1,000 wireless devices.

HP BYOD solutions eliminate network downtime with HP Wi-Fi Clear Connect software offered on HP’s WLAN products. Deployment of the solution is simplified by plug-and-play integrated BYOD functionality in the HP Intelligent Management Center (IMC) Smart Connect.

Gartner predicts that cloud scalability for mobile applications will be essential as these applications have the largest number of concurrent users. Legacy infrastructures lack the scalability required to deliver unified access from the data center to the branch network.

New HP BYOD solutions help increase network performance by up to 100 percent, while speeding data transfer by up to 45 percent with the new OpenFlow-enabled HP 2920 Switch Series.

The solutions improve network availability while lowering costs by up to 54 percent with the HP 10500/7500 Unified Wired-WLAN Module.

HP Sentinel Security SDN application offers automated, real-time threat detection. The HP IMC User Access Manager is a single platform that identifies users, applies policies and provides secure access to employee-owned devices, while monitoring network health.

HP ‘s services and programs facilitate revenue opportunities for channel partners . HP partners can use HP FlexNetwork Design and Validation Services to simplify the customer network design and validation process to meet BYOD scalability, security and performance needs. Partners can avail of financing from  HP Financial Services.

HP’s Wireless LAN Lifecycle help achieve highly scalable network connectivity.

The HP ExpertOne program offers tailored courses, access to remote labs, web-based learning and a community of experts for ongoing support to HP partners to improve IT skills.

The HP Networking “Bring It On! We’re Ready for BYOD” promotion, provides distributors with an HP 2920 demo kit that includes switches, collaterals, training and incentives to generate awareness with resellers.

The HP 830 Unified/WLAN Switch and HP Wi-Fi Clear Connect via MSM 6.0 and HP 10500/7500 Unified Wired-WLAN Module will be available worldwide in May.

HP IMC Smart Connect and HP 2920 Switch Series and HP IMC User Access Manager will be available worldwide this month.

HP FlexNetwork Design and Validation Services will be available in March.

The HP Sentinel Security Application is currently available as an early access program to select customers. The HP Wireless LAN Lifecycle Services is available now globally from HP and HP ServiceOne certified channel partners.

HP BYOD solutions can be delivered by HP Technology Services as well as HP channel partners.
