Godrej taps QlikView BI platform to improve sales and distribution

Infotech Lead India: Godrej Consumer Products has selected the QlikView Business Discovery – a business intelligence (BI) platform — to improve sales and distribution performance.

QlikView’s business intelligence platform enables Godrej Consumer Products to collect insights across geographies, product lines and sales hierarchies with the data volume totaling millions of records.

In the third quarter of 2012-13, Godrej Consumer Products, which sells GoodKnight, Cinthol, Godrej No.1 and Godrej Expert Hair Colour, etc. reported 3 percent increase in net profit to Rs 172 crore on sales of Rs 1691 crore that rose 26 percent.

A BI solution will assist Godrej Consumer Products, which is expanding globally through acquisitions, to improve sales and profitability. Due to the upfront marketing investments on new product launches, its EBITDA growth has lagged sales growth during the third quarter.

Godrej Consumer Products’ focus on distribution has already benefitted the company. For instance, the company posted 28 percent growth in Home care – Household insecticides sales value in Q3 thanks to its focus on leveraging distribution synergies.

“The simple fact is we needed a powerful and user intuitive BI solution that could facilitate the business users pan India to understand the sales and distribution performance and aid them with strategic insights for better decision making,” said Subrata Dey, executive vice president (Information Technology) at GCPL.

In addition, the BI platform will assist the fast moving consumer good company to disseminate actionable information to the business users across locations and provide information on the basis of responsibility and role.
