Installation and use

Download the desired edition and install the .exe file. Then follow the wizard and complete the installation. After that, launch the software and select the Hosted Exchange or Offline EDB option to extract, backup, or migrate mailboxes from an online or offline Exchange database file.

For us, the installation and setup was quite easy; it took less than 5 minutes to get the software installed in our Windows 10 PC.

To select the EDB file, you can either use the Browse option; else if you don’t know the exact location, you can use the ‘find’ option to search and list the EDB files present in the system. Then you can choose the required file.

After selecting the file, choose the Next option to start scanning the EDB file. After scanning, the software will prompt for a detailed preview that helps you verify and choose specific or desired mailboxes and mail items for backup or migration. You can also customize the search using attributes like From, To, subject, Attachments, Body, and Date.

The Save Scan option in the tool allows you to save the previously scanned version in the menu. This helps you save significant time, especially while performing the task with large files.

The next, you will see the Preview, where you can select the mailboxes that you want to convert, backup, or migrate. After selecting the file, click Save. Here you also get option to export individual mail items or mailbox to the desired format.

An activation key will be required during the process. Click on ‘Get it now’, and it will proceed to Save As where you can select mailboxes to export to PST, live Exchange, Office 365, or other formats. The software also auto-maps the mailboxes, but the user can also edit the mapping setup. After the mapping, click ‘Export’ to save the mailboxes and selected items to the desired format.

Overall, we found Stellar Converter for EDB is very useful in converting the EDB file. We tested the software with PST and Office 365 tenant with 18 users, where we got them converted in less than 50 minutes. The interface is very intuitive, which helped us navigate through the process effortlessly. We opted for the Corporate I Edition, and hopefully as we increase the mailbox count in the future, we will think of an upgrade. If we upgrade to the next level with an additional $100, we can get it for 500 users, and this can be really economical for us.
