Epicor Software announced the appointment of Stephen Murphy, former president of OpenText, as the CEO.
Stephen Murphy will replace Joe Cowan, who will retire as the president and CEO in October 2017. Joe Cowan has handled the CEO job for the last four years.
Stephen Murphy served as the president of OpenText, a $2 billion leader in enterprise information management with 12,000 employees. Stephen Murphy was responsible for all customer-facing activities including sales, marketing, partners and alliances, global technical services, customer support, professional services, sales operations and cloud services.
At OpenText, Stephen Murphy delivered outstanding operational performance and was instrumental in the completion and integration of four major acquisitions. Stephen Murphy also handled sales and operations leadership positions at Oracle, Sun Microsystems, and Manugistics.
Stephen Murphy has manufacturing and distribution experience in leading global logistics and supply chain strategy and major enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementations with Accenture and Procter & Gamble.
Stephen Murphy holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of California, Davis.
