E.ON taps SAP for developing new technology platform

E.ON, an international energy company based in Essen, has tapped SAP for developing a new process and technology platform for the network operators of the energy company.
sap-hana-erp-for-enterprisesThe goal is to make the core processes related to billing and market communication more efficient and uniform across the group using SAP cloud solutions (S / 4 HANA). This means that the energy suppliers, measuring point and network operators of the E.ON Group can exchange information faster and more easily.

The processes will be standardized and different accounting and market communication systems of the regional E.ON units will be brought to the new platform. Thanks to consistent data, standard solutions and best practices can be used and the costs for individual in-house developments decrease. The leaner processes should benefit E.ON’s network customers and enable customer queries to be processed even faster and more efficiently.

The development follows the introduction of the new technology at E.ON following the integration of innogy in the E.ON group. E.ON will establish a group-wide standard for all processes and IT systems relating to network billing.

SAP said the project should achieve initial successes in process efficiency by the middle of 2022. The introduction of the innovative cloud solutions should result in cost savings of more than 40 percent in the long term.

“The partnership with SAP enables us to redesign processes and structures – especially after the innogy takeover. The possible automation and standardization of the new platform will significantly increase the efficiency of our processes,” said Thomas Konig, responsible for the network business on the E.ON board.

“The cooperation with E.ON is a convincing example of how technology can simplify business decisions, enable new business models and generate sustainable value,” said Christian Klein, CEO of SAP.
