Cognizant has announced a strategic collaboration with SmartestEnergy, a UK-based energy company focused on helping businesses transition to net zero, to transform internal IT support services and accelerate digital innovation.

The partnership is designed to scale employee support, enhance service delivery, and introduce cutting-edge technologies that improve both employee and customer experiences.

As part of the initiative, Cognizant will revamp SmartestEnergy’s first and second-line IT helpdesk operations to deliver faster, more responsive support. Leveraging an omni-channel strategy, the project aims to drive adoption of chat-based support, reduce support ticket volume through improved self-service, and introduce zero-touch device provisioning—enabling employees to stay productive while support teams focus on complex, value-added tasks.

This transformation also supports SmartestEnergy’s broader growth goals, particularly as it expands into the U.S., Australia, and Europe. By reducing internal support friction, the company can better equip its workforce to assist external customers navigating the complex journey toward net-zero emissions.

Cognizant will also assess SmartestEnergy’s existing technology landscape to identify opportunities for integrating Generative AI technologies such as User AI and Voice AI. These capabilities are expected to streamline information discovery, optimize service delivery, and enable smarter decision-making across the business.

For SmartestEnergy, the deal reflects a strategic investment in future-ready operations. “Our global expansion plans demand a strong technology foundation. Cognizant’s innovation-led approach and commitment to employee experience will help us sustain momentum while empowering our people,” said Claire Talbot, Global VP of IT at SmartestEnergy.

Rohit Gupta, UK&I Managing Director at Cognizant, added: “We’re proud to support SmartestEnergy in its net-zero mission. This partnership is about more than tech—it’s about enabling people and processes to accelerate clean energy goals while optimizing operational excellence.”

The collaboration underscores how digital innovation — through automation, AI, and intelligent support systems — can unlock employee potential and improve service efficiency in mission-critical sectors like renewable energy.
