Cisco veteran joins Mahindra Satyam to head MENA region

Infotech Lead Asia: IT services provider Mahindra Satyam is expanding in Australia, New Zealand (ANZ) and the Middle East markets.

At present, Mahindra Satyam earns 24 percent of its revenues from the Rest of the World market — including geographies Australia, New Zealand, Middle East & other geographies in Asia & Africa.

Both ANZ and Middle East & Africa(MEA) markets are high-growth opportunities for Mahindra Satyam.

Mahindra Satyam in Q3 2012 posted 13 percent increase in revenue to Rs 1,940 crore. Profit after tax plummeted to Rs 80 crore. In Q3 2012, Mahindra Satyam’s headcount reached 36,956, a net addition of 169 quarter-on-quarter.

As part of the expansion, the company on Tuesday announced a new leadership team to generate more business from its existing strong verticals such as BFSI, manufacturing, resources, Government and airlines.

The aim of the new team is to pursue large deals.

Mahindra Satyam says Bobby Gupta will take over as head of ANZ operations after transforming the MENA operations.

This is a strategic appointment as Bobby had studied and worked in Australia for several years and joined Mahindra Satyam from IBM in 2009.

At ANZ, Bobby will build a English-speaking market for Mahindra Satyam.

GB Kumar will replace Bobby in MENA region. He will be responsible to grow the company’s revenues to contribute to the bigger target of 5 billion by 2015.

Kumar is joining Mahindra Satyam from Cisco. At Cisco, Kumar led Asia Pacific, Japan & China as managing director for Enterprise Services.

Recently, Mahindra Satyam appointed Manoj Chugh, as global head: Business Development. Manoj supports the integrated entity’s business expansion plans across accounts and geographies.
