Cermaq Renews Technology Contract with Cognizant, Enabling Digital Modernization

Cermaq Group, a player in the global salmon production industry, has announced the renewal of its technology contract with IT services provider Cognizant.

However, this renewal follows a decade-long partnership between Cognizant and Cermaq, dedicated to advancing digital transformation initiatives. The collaboration will encompass Cermaq’s entities in both Norway and Canada.

Cognizant aims to streamline, modernize, and bolster the security of Cermaq’s technology landscape, spanning infrastructure services, On-Premise, and Cloud platforms. Additionally, the partnership will explore cutting-edge technology trends such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generation AI (Gen AI).

Cognizant said the goals include reducing operational costs, accelerating time to market, and laying the groundwork for global digital enablement while ensuring the stability of infrastructure operations.

Cermaq anticipates delivering a seamless and consistent value chain experience to its clientele. The company is poised to expand its IT footprint, empowering its Norwegian and Canadian entities to manage their respective IT landscapes under a centralized governance framework.

Cognizant’s involvement in Cermaq’s cloud governance group underscores its pivotal role in advising on the establishment of a robust governance structure, enabling entities to operate independently yet cohesively while adhering to global security and compliance standards.

Davor Crnoja, Head of Global IT at Cermaq Group, expressed confidence in Cognizant’s capabilities, stating, “Following a lengthy and thorough RFP process, we carefully evaluated potential partners and are confident that Cognizant is the ideal choice to guide Cermaq’s IT operations.”

Cognizant competes with IT service providers such as TCS, Wipro, Accenture, IBM, HCL, Infosys, among others.

Knut Inge Buset, Country Manager of Cognizant Norway, emphasized the significance of their partnership in driving Cermaq’s digital ambitions forward.
