Carl Zeiss AG, a German optical technology company, has opened its first GCC in India, focusing on cloud computing, cybersecurity, and network operations. It will also develop software services for Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, its medical tech subsidiary.
Carl Zeiss plans to increase its workforce to 5,000 in the next three years, including hiring for technical roles and staff for a new manufacturing facility.
Carl Zeiss is building its fifth manufacturing facility in India at a cost of 30 billion rupees ($355.67 million) in Bengaluru, expected to start operations in 2025. This will be Zeiss Group’s largest investment outside Germany, Reuters news report said.
Carl Zeiss India aims for a revenue of 22 billion rupees for the fiscal year ending September 2025, reflecting a 19 percent increase from the previous year.
Karnataka’s recent policy aims to double its GCC count to 1,000 and create 350,000 new jobs by 2029. The Indian GCC market size is expected to reach up to $105 billion by 2030.
