Accenture to acquire Fjord

Infotech Lead America: Accenture is set to acquire Fjord – a digital design consultancy for smart devices, tablets and PCs.

Accenture did not disclose financial terms.

Accenture says the investment in Fjord will enable the company to expand its digital and marketing capabilities.

In addition, Fjord’s capabilities will complement Accenture Interactive’s business strategy, data analytics, technology and marketing operations services.

In October of 2012, Accenture announced the acquisition of avVenta, a provider of digital production services.

Accenture’s clients will have access to Fjord’s mobility capabilities – including offerings designed to accelerate the conception, development and scaling of digital services and experiences across multiple devices and platforms.

Brian Whipple, global managing director of Accenture Interactive, said: “Together Accenture Interactive and Fjord will offer a rich blend of skills and expertise, helping clients to deliver innovative experiences and deeper engagement across platforms in ways that bridge marketing, commerce, and service interactions.”

Fjord’s clients include BBC, BBVA, Citibank, Harvard Medical School, Nokia, PayPal, Qualcomm, and Telefónica, among others.
