IT service provider Wipro has selected Intel Security to deploy the Security Connected framework to enhance protection for its enterprise network.
The Bangalore-based Wipro aims to achieve its target of a Near-Zero Malware IT environment within the next few quarters with the latest deployment of security solutions.
Since Wipro’ 150,000 employees across 6 continents are connected directly to the internet, most of the endpoint devices are outside Wipro’s enterprise perimeter.
“We wanted to have an anti-malware solution which can deliver a very high rate of auto remediation and superior user experience with respect to definition updates and the Intel Security solution has scored very high on both counts,” said Raja Ukil, chief information officer of Wipro.
Wipro deployed Intel Security’s Endpoint Protection – Advanced Suite (EPA) across 125,000 nodes to provide IT with a single management dashboard. Following the deployment of EPA, the number of malware infections Wipro had to manage fell from 300 to 20 per day and more than 95 percent were auto-remediated.
“Endpoint security controls (Intel Security EPA) integrated with network layer Intrusion Prevention System (McAfee Network Security Platform) — hardware and virtual appliances — and sophisticated sandboxing (McAfee Advanced Threat Defense) is a new experience in effective incident handling,” said Sunil Varkey, chief information security officer of Wipro.
Jagdish Mahapatra, managing director for India and SAARC at Intel Security, said the ability to assist Wipro with zero downtime and for 125,000 employees within a 40-day timeframe is a significant achievement for this partnership.
