Symantec’s new Norton Mobile Security version landed in India

Symantec’s latest version of Norton Mobile Security is out in the Indian market.

The security solution provider says the new update offers better protection for Android smartphones and tablets, and Apple iPhones and iPads.

Recently, Juniper Networks said attackers are leveraging loosely regulated third-party app marketplaces to distribute malware and more quickly get threats on the market. Malware for the Android operating system has increased from 24 percent of all mobile malware in 2010 to 92 percent by March 2013.

The focus of Symantec is centered around Android devices, which according to analyst firm Canalys, accounted for 67.7 percent of all smartphones shipped in 2012 and is projected to ship more than 1 billion smartphones in 2017.

The price of Norton Mobile Security is $29.99.

Indian IT retailers, Norton online store and Google Play are selling the new version of Norton Mobile Security.

In addition, Norton 360 Multi-Device and Norton One will be updated with the features in the latest release of Norton Mobile Security.

In addition, Norton customers with a valid product subscription are eligible to receive the latest product updates via the subscription service model.

New features of Norton Mobile Security

Norton Mobile Insight enables the user to tackle privacy risk.

The company also added anti-theft capabilities to iPhone and iPad with a scream alarm to help users quickly find their missing mobile device.

Norton Mobile Security now scans apps for privacy risk-related attributes.

Con Mallon, senior director, product management, Symantec, said: “With this latest release, we are using a unique combination of static and dynamic analysis to deliver an unprecedented view into app privacy and information leakage.”
