Kaspersky offers free upgrade to Android tablet security solution

Infotech Lead India: Kaspersky Lab has launched its new Kaspersky Tablet Security solution for Android tablets.

According to internal testing, the updated product scans the mobile system much faster than the previous version, while the new Alarm tool will help users find lost tablets.

Kaspersky Tablet Security will be available from the Kaspersky Lab online store and on Sakri online shop.

It will be also available in IT retail outlets and major large format retail outlets like Reliance Digital, Staples and Wal-Mart in India from 14 May 2013.

Registered users of previous versions can upgrade to Kaspersky Tablet Security free of charge, but they must reinstall the application.

If the tablet cannot be found for some reason, the owner can remotely block the device and remove sensitive data from its memory. To take advantage of all the capabilities of the Anti-Theft module, the user mustregister on adedicated web portal run by Kaspersky Lab.

Victor Dronov, head of UCP and Mobile Products, KasperskyLab, said: “The growing number of mobile threats targeting the Android operating system leaves no doubts as to whether mobile devices built on this platform need high-quality protection. It is also essential to address risks related to the loss or theft of a tablet, resulting in sensitive data falling into the wrong hands.”

Jagannath Patnaik, director Channel Sales, Kaspersky Lab, South Asia, said: “Android based Tablets have gained popularity in India due to the government encouragement and making them available at low cost in the rural areas. Apart from that most of the enterprise in India opting for tablets for their mobile staff due to the ease of use and low cost. But at the same time android based tablets are vulnerable to attacks and infections.  Furthermore, because tablets are relatively small and lightweight, there’s greater risk of loss or theft. It’s essential to protect tablets with reliable Tablet Security solution.”
