Intel Cyber Security report
The exclusive report released recently highlights Intel’s efforts to improve product defenses through security assurance initiatives, resulting in a significant reduction in vulnerabilities and enhanced customer trust.

Greg Lavender, Intel’s Executive Vice President, Chief Technology Officer, and General Manager of the Software and Advanced Technology Group, emphasized the importance of transparency in security practices. Lavender stated, “Intel believes a transparent approach to security is the only way to truly empower customers while delivering product innovations that build defenses at the foundation.”

Key highlights from the report underscore Intel’s proactive stance towards addressing vulnerabilities:

Intel addressed a total of 353 vulnerabilities in 2023, with proactive investments accounting for 94 percent of vulnerability disclosures, marking the highest figure in five years.

A record number of 256 researchers engaged in Intel’s Bug Bounty program in 2023, up from 181 in the previous year. This includes participation from an elite community of ethical hackers through Project Circuit Breaker.

The report found a significant reduction in hardware and firmware vulnerabilities, with a combined 39 percent reduction compared to 2022. Notably, there was a decrease in firmware vulnerabilities by 38 percent and hardware vulnerabilities by 47 percent, while software vulnerabilities increased by 208 percent, attributed to the growth of Intel’s Bug Bounty and researcher engagement programs.

Intel’s proactive engagement with external sources resulted in 89 percent of reported common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs) qualifying for a bounty.

In comparison to its competitors, Intel demonstrated superior performance in product security assurance. A white paper from ABI Research ranked Intel as the silicon leader in product security assurance, validating its position as a trusted provider of secure technology solutions.

The report also highlights Intel’s efforts to maintain the highest standards for quality and security assurance amidst evolving cybersecurity threats. Lavender emphasized the importance of Intel’s posture of transparency and proactivity, particularly in light of increasing security concerns among technology users.
