Is Intel considering sale of cyber security business?

Intel is rumoured to have plans to sell its cyber security business Intel Security.

According to a report published in the Financial Times, The Silicon Valley chipmaker is in talks with bankers about the future of its security unit.

The Intel Security is formerly known as McAfee which Intel bought for $7.7 billion six years ago.

Intel believes it requires a fundamentally new approach involving software, hardware and services while providing protection to the variety of Internet-connected devices.

According to FT, a group of private equity firms might club together to buy Intel Security.

So far, no official confirmation is available from Intel.
