Fujitsu Frontech unveils PalmEntryXS access control solution

Fujitsu Frontech North America has unveiled the PalmEntryXS access control solution powered by Fujitsu PalmSecure biometrics technology, designed to deliver a more robust solution to the security  market.

The PalmEntryXS solution now features an ergonomically designed user interface to make it a more compelling solution for many secure locations, said Randy Fox, vice president, currency handling and identification product solutions, Fujitsu Frontech North America.

The Fujitsu PalmSecure biometric palm vein sensors use a near-infrared light to capture a user’s palm vein pattern, generating a unique biometric template that is matched against the palm vein patterns of pre-registered users. Because blood needs to be flowing through the veins to create the vein pattern, there is an automatic ‘liveness’ check which prevents spoofing. This also makes the PalmSecure solution the security market’s only subcutaneous biometric sensor making forgery virtually impossible.

Unlike other biometric readers, the PalmSecure sensor does not come into contact with the skin, making it extremely hygienic, non-intrusive and unrestricted by external factors such as skin types and conditions. User registration takes less than one minute and authentication takes less than one second, Fujitsu said.

The user will benefit from the larger four-color LED display that intuitively assists them through the verification process. The contactless, hygienic authentication process replaces, or can be used in conjunction with, other forms of ID such as RFID badges, tokens and PINS.

The palm vein device can only recognize the pattern if the blood is actively flowing within the individual’s veins, so forgery is virtually impossible. This advanced, vascular pattern recognition technology not only provides highly reliable authentication with low false accept and reject rates, but also allows for fast and easy enrollment.
