Fortinet launches 600D enterprise firewall

Fortinet has launched 10GBps mid-range network security appliance, FortiGate-600D enterprise firewall, to protect mid-market and enterprise organizations from advanced cyber attacks.

FortiGate-600D enterprise firewall is designed to provide security and performance and deliver five-times better performance compared to competitive solutions.

The solution is designed for Deployment as a Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) at the edge of the network which allows multiple security applications to be deployed without causing a bottleneck in the network.

While, customers can securely separate data stores inside the internal network without affecting throughput with the solution designed for deployment as an Internal Segmentation Firewall (ISFW).

The company said FortiGate-600D with FortiGate-400D and 900D next-generation enterprise firewall appliances deliver high level of performance needed to block emerging threats to meet rigorous third-party certifications.

Additionally, organizations can run NSS and ICSA Labs recommended Fortinet intrusion prevention and application control technologies and VB100 certified anti-malware capabilities.

This apart, FortiOS network security operating system allow superior control over thousands of applications, rich visibility over network traffic, broad security, and ease-of-use.

The FortiGate 600D provides 10 GE slots to simplify network designs without relying on additional devices to bridge desired connectivity.

Company officials said the FortiGate-600 can be deployed at high-speed as next generation firewalls at network edges or inside the network as internal segmentation firewalls.

In July, Fortinet acquired Meru Networks, a provider of intelligent Wi-Fi networking solutions, for approximately $44 million, to broaden its portfolio to enterprise Wi-Fi market.

In May, Muthot Fincorp deployed Fortinet’s FortiGate network security platform after rejecting Juniper, Cisco Systems and DAX.

While in March, Fortinet, in partnership with Spirent Communications, validated Fortinet’s FortiGate-3810D appliance designed for large enterprises, Communication Service Providers (CSPs) and data center environments.
