F-Secure introduces Privacy Checker

F-Secure have introduced new Privacy Checker which exposes the digital footprints that online trackers are using to invade people’s privacy.

With the F-Secure new innovation the data stored in web browsers can be checked to reveal the kinds of information that online tracker use to monitor people while they surf the web.

Additionally the free online tool highlights how VPNs like Freedome can help thwart technologies and online privacy violations.

Company officials said it can also determine where people are located, the device and operating system people use to run the check, what website they came from and whether or not their browsers are set to accept the cookies that websites use to track people online.

The Privacy Checker is free to use and is available now on F-Secure’s new Digital Privacy website.

Company officials also said the Privacy Checker is designed to raise awareness about the importance of using Freedome by giving people information on how it stops the tracking process, and what kinds of information it protects, said F-Secure in a statement.

The Privacy Checker essentially pulls back that magic curtain and exposes how online tracking works, so people can better understand how to protect themselves, and why,” said Samu Konttinen, F-Secure executive vice president, consumer security.

In March, F-Secure launched a one-button Router Checker that inspects Internet set-ups to protect people from misdirecting to websites that can spread malware or steal their personal information.

Last year in October, F-Secure partnered with Airangel to protect its WiFi hotspot users and Airangel also eliminated snooping through WiFi networks.
