Cybersecurity firm Gen Digital targets $965 mn revenue in current-quarter

Cybersecurity firm Gen Digital has posted revenue of $965 million (up 2 percent) with operating income of $417 million (up 16 percent) and operating margin of 43 percent for the first quarter fiscal year 2025, which ended June 28, 2024.

Vincent Pilette, CEO of Gen Digital, said: “As the leader in Cyber Safety, we are hyper-focused on delivering innovative, easy-to-use technology and solutions that stay one step ahead of the dynamic threat landscape.”

Gen Digital has generated sales revenue of $850 million directly (subscriptions sold directly through e-commerce and mobile app) and $101 through channel partners. Gen Digital has added 1.1 million new customers. The total number of customers has reached 39.3 million at the end of June, 2024 with monthly ARPU of $7.23. Gen Digital has retained 78 percent of cyber security customers.

Gen Digital forecast second-quarter revenue of $965 million – $975 million indicating that customers will increase spending on antivirus solutions to protect their systems from digital threats. Gen Digital offers cybersecurity solutions including Norton, Avast and Avira.

A substantial increase in digital scams, online threats and high-profile cybersecurity incidents have triggered robust demand for companies such as Gen Digital.

“In the months to come, you are going to see the integration of Norton Genie as a standalone app capability integrated into our portfolio,” CEO Vincent Pilette told Reuters in an interview about his roadmap.

Norton Genie is Gen’s AI-driven scam detection tool that helps customers identify threats that frequently pop up in emails or text messages.
