CrowdStrike to acquire SaaS security leader Adaptive Shield

CrowdStrike is set to acquire Adaptive Shield, a leader in SaaS security, in a deal that includes cash-and-stock. Financial details were not disclosed.

CrowdStrike

CrowdStrike aims to become the sole cybersecurity provider offering unified, end-to-end protection against identity-based attacks across the full cloud ecosystem – from on-premises systems to cloud identity providers and SaaS applications. This was announced at CrowdStrike’s premier European user conference, Fal.Con Europe.

The integration of Adaptive Shield into CrowdStrike’s Falcon platform will strengthen identity-based security across complex, hybrid cloud environments. As more enterprises adopt SaaS and AI applications, this merger aims to reduce vulnerabilities arising from misconfigurations and complex account access controls, a growing challenge as 75 percent of initial access attacks now bypass malware.

The demand for SaaS security solutions is increasing, with SaaS expected to dominate cloud spending in 2024. However, fragmented security in shared responsibility models means organizations struggle to maintain visibility and security across diverse SaaS applications.

The addition of Adaptive Shield will provide:

SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM): Full governance over configurations, entitlements, and data visibility across 150+ SaaS apps.

GenAI Application Security: Continuous monitoring of GenAI apps to detect risks, control settings to prevent data leaks, and manage shadow AI applications.

Unified Identity and Cloud Security: Comprehensive protection across SaaS, on-premises, and cloud environments from a single console.

Adaptive Shield’s integration with CrowdStrike Falcon’s Next-Gen SIEM and Falcon Fusion SOAR enhances multi-domain security by enabling near real-time detection and response for endpoints, workloads, and applications.

The acquisition, mainly a cash transaction with stock components subject to vesting, is expected to close by CrowdStrike’s fiscal fourth quarter.
