Cloudflare, a leader in the connectivity cloud industry, has announced the acquisition of Kivera, a cloud security, data protection, and compliance platform.
Financial details were not disclosed.
The integration of Kivera into the Cloudflare One platform will enhance preventive cloud security measures, allowing organizations to address security risks before they arise. This move aims to streamline the cloud deployment process, making it faster and more secure.
Gartner has predicted that by 2027, 99 percent of cloud-related data breaches will be due to user misconfigurations or account compromises, rather than issues with the cloud provider itself. Current tools, such as cloud security posture management (CSPM) systems and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) scanning tools, typically notify teams after a problem has occurred, leaving them in a reactive position. As data flow between organizations and their cloud providers grows, the risks of data leaks and cyberattacks increase.
Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare, emphasized the company’s mission to simplify and secure Internet connectivity for organizations worldwide. “We want to make it easy for any organization to connect and protect everything connected to the Internet,” Matthew Prince said.
Cloudflare One is a leading platform in the secure access service edge (SASE) and security service edge (SSE) markets, helping businesses ensure safe access to web, SaaS, private apps, and infrastructure. By incorporating Kivera’s technology, Cloudflare aims to enhance its SASE platform with preventive cloud security in a unified solution.
Earlier in 2024, Cloudflare acquired BastionZero, a company specializing in Zero Trust infrastructure access, expanding Cloudflare One’s capabilities. The combination of Kivera and BastionZero is set to provide centralized security management across hybrid IT environments, offering enterprises a DevOps-friendly solution for secure infrastructure connectivity using Zero Trust principles.
This acquisition highlights Cloudflare’s ongoing efforts to expand its cloud security capabilities and deliver comprehensive, proactive solutions for enterprises navigating complex hybrid cloud environments.
