Cisco beats Palo Alto Networks in security appliance market: IDC

The latest IDC report has revealed the top vendors in security appliance market  for the year 2021.

Cisco (with 15.3 percent), Palo Alto Networks (15.2 percent), Fortinet (13.4 percent), Check Point (8 percent) and Huawei (3.3 percent) are the top suppliers in the security appliance market.
Security appliance vendor share revenue in 2021Vendor revenue in the security appliance market grew 9.7 percent year over year in the fourth quarter of 2021 (4Q21) to more than $5.8 billion. Security appliance shipments increased 9.2 percent year over year in 4Q21 to more than 1.5 million units.

Unified Threat Management (UTM), Content Management, Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP), Traditional Firewall, and Virtual Private Network (VPN) are the main areas in the security appliances market.

“Though supply chain issues had varying degrees of impact among security appliances vendors, the market continued its healthy performance during the last quarter of 2021 and security appliances are expected to maintain their relevance within security strategies designed to protect hybrid IT,” said Carlo Davila, research manager, Worldwide Enterprise Trackers at IDC.
