Cyber-security powerhouse Check Point Software Technologies has unveiled its strategic move to acquire Perimeter 81, a pioneering Security Service Edge (SSE) company.
The acquisition, valued at approximately $490 million, is aimed at bolstering Check Point’s capabilities in delivering cutting-edge secure access solutions across various domains, including remote users, cloud environments, data centers, and the broader internet landscape.
The decision to merge forces comes as businesses navigate the evolving landscape of hybrid work models and the increasing reliance on cloud infrastructure. By integrating Perimeter 81’s innovative technologies into the Check Point Infinity platform, the joint venture endeavors to offer the most secure and high-speed SSE solution available on the market.
Founded in 2018, Perimeter 81 boasts a dedicated team of more than 200 professionals and serves a vast clientele of over 3,000 customers worldwide. Its suite of offerings includes Zero Trust Access and a robust full mesh connectivity system that links users, branches, and applications. This technology empowers remote users to enjoy swift and secure internet access while mitigating cloud privacy concerns.
Check Point’s CEO, Gil Shwed, emphasized the growing demand for security solutions that transcend traditional network boundaries. “With the advent of hybrid work and the rise of cloud transformation, the demand for security services that expand beyond the network perimeter is increasing.”
Amit Bareket, CEO of Perimeter 81, expressed excitement about the acquisition, highlighting the combined expertise of both companies. “By joining Check Point, a global leader in cyber security for over 30 years, we aim to deliver the premier SASE platform in the market.”
The acquisition is pending customary closing conditions and is anticipated to be finalized in the third quarter of 2023. As the cyber-security landscape continues to evolve, the collaboration between Check Point and Perimeter 81 sets the stage for a formidable partnership that promises enhanced security and efficiency in an increasingly interconnected world.
Gartner sees the Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) market hitting $20 billion+ by 2026.
Perimeter 81, recognized as a leader in the Forrester Zero Trust Wave, brings an innovative approach to SSE that combines cloud and on-device protection. Perimeter 81 is offering capabilities, including Zero Trust Access, full mesh connectivity between users, branches and applications.
