Cencora reveals medical information was stolen during cyberattack

U.S. drug distributor Cencora has informed affected individuals that their personal and highly sensitive medical information was stolen during a cyberattack and data breach earlier this year.
tablet userPreviously known as AmerisourceBergen Corp, Cencora had disclosed a cybersecurity incident in February, revealing that data, potentially containing personal information, had been stolen from its information systems.

Cencora did not reveal the name of the technology partner which is responsible for blocking cyber attacks on its platforms.

There is no evidence that any of the information has been publicly disclosed or misused for fraudulent purposes. Cencora is notifying individuals whose personal information was compromised in the cyber security attack. The company is also providing resources to help them protect their information.

In a separate announcement, Cencora’s unit, AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group (ABSG), disclosed that the stolen information was linked to a prescription supply program offered by its now-defunct subsidiary, Medical Initiatives Inc.

Based on ABSG’s investigation, the compromised protected health information included first names, last names, and prescription details, according to a statement released late on Friday.
