Aflac reported a cybersecurity incident on June 12, after detecting suspicious activity on its U.S. network.

The insurer has engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate the breach and is currently reviewing files that may have been compromised. The affected data includes sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers and health-related details of its customers.
Aflac has recently engaged in several key technology partnerships aimed at modernizing its operations and improving customer experience. It partnered with SKYGEN to streamline its dental and vision claims processes through automation and real-time connectivity.
In collaboration with Nayya, Aflac is enhancing how employees interact with and utilize their supplemental health benefits by integrating medical claims data with AI-driven insights.
On the cybersecurity front, Aflac has consolidated 15 different security tools into CrowdStrike’s Falcon platform, which now powers its endpoint protection, identity security, application security posture management, and next-gen SIEM capabilities.
The company is also working with Zscaler to implement a Zero Trust architecture and improve network security, and with Transmit Security to introduce passwordless authentication via passkeys, which has reduced login errors and improved customer authentication experiences.
As part of its technology investment strategy, Aflac Global Investments acquired a 40% stake in Tree Line Capital Partners in May 2024, expanding into private credit and committing ongoing capital to support long-term underwriting needs. Aflac Corporate Ventures had earlier invested in Sharecare, a digital health platform, signaling its interest in scalable digital health solutions.
Aflac’s broader technology focus includes driving automation, leveraging cloud infrastructure, and boosting security. With the help of LTIMindtree, Aflac is executing a cloud migration plan under its “One Digital Aflac” initiative, which has improved operational resilience and reduced hosting costs.
The company is also using AWS and microsite platforms to support virtual sales and customer enrollment, while data analytics tools help tailor user experiences. These moves reflect Aflac’s commitment to digital transformation across its business operations.
