Zurich Insurance deploys BT to enhance network performance

Zurich Insurance Group has signed an agreement with BT for six year. The insurance group will transform its IT infrastructure and will deliver increased network performance, improved audio and video capabilities for the company’s customers and employees.

As per the agreement, BT will consolidate, modernize and manage Zurich’s communications infrastructure and includes technology supporting Zurich’s global contact centers.

This apart, the contract includes internet connectivity, global wide area networking and local area networking as well as IP telephony and enterprise voice services.

The company said BT will manage the videoconferencing systems for Zurich located around the globe and provides highly productive audio conferencing services using its pioneering high-definition BT MeetMe with Dolby Voice service.

Additionally, Zurich main data center will have high bandwidth connectivity delivered by BT using BT IP Connect.

“There are significant advantages in working with a truly global company, not the least of which are the increased agility and efficiency in dealing with one main provider,” said Robert Dickie, chief operations and technology officer, Zurich Insurance Group.

Last month, BT signed an agreement with Check Point Software Technologies to embed additional security capabilities into BT’s global network, enabling customers to securely access cloud-based applications wherever they are hosted.

Also in May, BT announced its deal with ABB to transform and manage its global communications infrastructure in order to improve application performance and IT security.
