Samsung Canada inks digital deal with National Hockey League

Samsung Canada announced its digital deal with National Hockey League (NHL) to better experience of fans through smartphone and tablets.

The partnership in Canada includes sponsorship across the League’s digital assets NHL.com, NHL Social and within NHL application.

The official NHL app is enhanced with content on Samsung Galaxy Smartphone, allowing fans to personalize their device around their NHL team with integrated wallpapers and covers, informing them about game scores and updates, all delivered directly to their mobile devices in real-time.

Under the deal, Samsung Smartphone users can access content via NHL application. Samsung users will also be able to view videos explaining how game officials reached their decision in real time, showing the play on the ice, the call that was made, an explanation of the rule and the final decision.

“Working hand in hand with the NHL, we have enhanced the mobile experience for the millions of avid hockey fans across Canada, offering them a unique point of view and an unparalleled fan journey,” said Paul Brannen, executive vice president, mobile solutions, Samsung Canada.

Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S5, S4, S III, Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, Note 4, Note 3 and Note II will be part of the deal.

Recently, Next Generation Sports Network (NGSN) has tied up with Microsoft services to make international soccer matches available live and on demand for the viewers.
