Motorola Solutions has acquired PublicEngines, a provider of cloud-based crime analysis, predictive policing and citizen engagement capabilities.
In February, Motorola Solutions acquired Emergency CallWorks, a provider of web-based Next-Generation 9-1-1 call-taking software for public safety.
The acquisition of software-based Smart Public Safety Solutions providers is part of the strategy of Motorola Solutions to strengthen presence in the public safety market. This acquisition advances Motorola Solutions’ strategy to revolutionize public safety’s use of available data to gain actionable intelligence to support its mission.
The company did not disclose the size of the acquisition of PublicEngines that was founded in 2007 and headquartered in Salt Lake City.

PublicEngines’ public safety and citizen engagement products include CommandCentral Analytics, CommandCentral Predictive, CrimeReports and TipSoft.
The combination of CommandCentral with Motorola Solutions’ situational awareness offerings will establish an unmatched platform for delivery of intelligence-led public safety capabilities.

PublicEngines serves more than 2,000 customers, primarily in North America. PublicEngines offers its solutions as cloud-based applications. There is no additional hardware is required and setup typically is completed remotely in a day.
