IBM launches IBM Verse business email service

IBM has launched cloud based email service, IBM Verse. It’s a new social messaging solution to help people to connect, communicate and find the right people and information fast.

IBM has invested $100 million in design innovation and Verse’s features include Team analytics, calendaring and file sharing.

Announced in November last year, Verse brings together and organizes messages from email, calendars, file sharing, instant messaging, social and more through a single cloud based environment.

IBM’s goal with Verse is to understand the user preferences and priorities and then provide instant context on people and teams.

Verse offers a one click path to users to see an organizational graph of the people on their thread and gain insights before responding.

Company said that at the bottom of the landing page is a calendar which helps in scheduling and joining meetings. It helps the user to join meetings by hovering over the calendar meeting and clicking “Join Meeting” directly.

IBM Verse also includes a social file sharing capability to make editing, reviewing and commenting on a file easy.

While sending an email Verse allows its user to easily upload a file from the desktop and share it with the mail recipients in a single action.

Company officials say that Verse has made tracking easier as it allows the owner to track who has downloaded the file.

File sharing with Verse is safe, secure and encrypted and files can be synchronized to user’s desktops and mobile devices.

Delivered on the SoftLayer Cloud with enterprise-grade security, IBM Verse gives enterprise customers, small businesses and individuals a scalable, cloud-based social collaboration environment optimized for mobile and Web environments, IBM said.

IBM will offer the new mobile apps for Verse for iPhone later this month and will release the apps for Android and iPad in second quarter.

IBM Verse will give competition to Google and Microsoft.
